The president has reportedly become increasingly frustrated by his conservative Supreme Court picks.

President Donald Trump has privately criticized conservative Supreme Court justices for their continued lack of support for his agenda, particularly targeting his latest nominee, Amy Coney Barrett.

A week after Barrett angered MAGA Republicans by recusing herself from a charter school case in Oklahoma, CNN reported that the president was growing frustrated with her 2020 Supreme Court nomination, fueled by her right-wing allies who called her “weak.”

According to anonymous sources, Trump is also growing angry with other Supreme Court justices, including Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, whom he also nominated during his first term.

However, Barrett has reportedly been the primary target, with her allies concerned that her decisions are at odds with how she presented herself before her appointment to the lifetime position on the nation’s highest court.

For months, tensions have been mounting within the MAGA movement over Barrett. In March, for example, Barrett voted against Trump’s attempt to freeze nearly $2 billion in foreign aid, prompting legal commentator Mike Davis to declare on Steve Bannon’s podcast, “She’s a deranged law professor with her head up her ass.”

In early January, Barrett sided with Chief Justice John Roberts, another conservative, and the court’s liberal justices to allow Trump’s conviction in a so-called “bribery” trial.

Trump was convicted in May after a New York jury unanimously found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal with porn star Stormy Daniels.

But last month’s decision to recuse her from the Oklahoma case sparked particular anger among Trump’s inner circle, given the administration’s support for the university.

The Daily Beast reached out to the administration for comment. In a statement to CNN, its spokesperson, Harrison Fields, said, “The President may disagree with the Court and some of its decisions, but he will always respect its fundamental role.”

Amy Barrett, nominated by Trump in 2020, became a darling of religious conservatives during her previous confirmation hearings before the Seventh Circuit.

At 48, she was the youngest woman to serve on the Supreme Court and the first mother of school-aged children to serve on it. As Amy Barrett aligned with conservatives on key decisions aimed at shifting American law to the right, including on abortion and affirmative action, supporters of the Make America Great Again movement grew increasingly dissatisfied with her more centrist decisions, with some even calling her “evil” and a “DEI appointment.”

“Amy Coney Barrett has been DEI-appointed,” wrote Laura Loomer, a far-right influencer, on X in March.

The post also included a photo of Amy Barrett’s family, which includes two children adopted from Haiti and of African descent.

However, her supporters resisted.

Charles C.W. Cook, editor-in-chief of the National Review, wrote in a recent article titled “Defending Judge Amy Coney Barrett”: “Barrett is a brilliant judge, and in most cases, her detractors forget the true role of the judiciary.”
