The president's former adviser suggests “we fire all politicians” supporting Trump's so-called Big Beautiful Bill.

Elon Musk has escalated his attacks on Donald Trump’s tax and spending bill, even as the president reportedly expressed anger at his former adviser’s sudden intervention.

The situation exploded when the world’s richest man burned the so-called “beautiful bill” on Tuesday, calling it a “disgusting and repugnant act.”

On Tuesday night and Wednesday, the Tesla CEO, whose mission in the White House was to reduce federal government spending, continued to express his disgust at a bill that would increase the budget deficit by more than $2 trillion.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the billionaire appeared to be setting the stage for an electoral showdown with the Republican Party.

“This November, we will expel all the politicians who have betrayed the American people,” Musk wrote, suggesting that Republican politicians would be expelled from Congress during the midterm elections.

Elon Musk was the largest donor in the 2024 political cycle, generously donating $288 million to help elect Trump and other Republican candidates.

He recently stated that he would scale back his efforts unless there was “a compelling reason for future political spending.”

In his series of tweets, Elon Musk, who left his temporary post at the White House only a few days ago, repeatedly emphasized the damaging impact of the growing US national debt.

He tweeted, in response to a post by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who warned in a 2024 interview that the current pace of spending was “unsustainable”: “This massive level of overspending will plunge America into debt slavery!”

In another message, Elon Musk wrote: “Massive spending bills are ruining America! Enough.”

He also responded with a “100” emoji to an X-shaped user who wrote that Elon Musk had “reminded everyone: it’s not the right versus the left, it’s the establishment versus the people.”

Trump has yet to publicly comment on Musk’s actions.

On Tuesday night, the president said he intended to sign the bill he had placed on his desk into law by July 4, though he made no mention of his former adviser.

But behind the scenes, Trump is reportedly furious.

On Wednesday morning, on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” co-host Brian Kilmeade said, “I think the Elon Musk thing really caught the president off guard. And I heard he’s very angry!”

Kilmeade added, “I think he’s very smart because he’s standing his ground.” Because he accepts what critics say: “The right can’t change anything.” Instead, his goal is to get it passed. Elon Musk isn’t in the Senate or the House of Representatives. Don’t worry about that.

The legislation includes nearly $4 trillion in tax cuts, most of which benefit wealthy families. The cost is only partially offset by more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and federal food stamps.

The House of Representatives passed the bill last month, and the Senate is working on its own version.

Two Republican senators, Mike Lee (Utah) and Rand Paul (Kentucky), announced their support for the bill to Elon Musk, who then shared posts from Republican members of Congress who had also announced their support.
