Musk was referencing the Justice Department records concerning the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who allegedly procured underage girls for sex for a string of famous names.

Billionaire Elon Musk has claimed that President Trump has ties to financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as part of his escalating feud with the president, a dispute that escalated into personal matters on Thursday.

Musk wrote on X, the social network he owns: “It’s time to get the truth out. [Trump] is in the Epstein files. This is the real reason they’re not being released.”

Minutes later, he added: “Save this message for later. The truth will come out.”

Influential figures once associated with Epstein, who committed suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019, including Trump, Prince Andrew, and former President Clinton, have been named in court documents relating to Epstein’s decades of sexual abuse.

Before his election in November, Trump said he “wouldn’t mind” releasing files related to Epstein, a move called for by some lawmakers and many social media users after his death.

Last year, the president denied any connection to Epstein, writing on social media: “I was not on Epstein’s plane, nor on his ‘dumb’ island. There should be strict laws against AI. This will be a very serious problem in the future!”

Elon Musk’s statement came just minutes after Trump threatened to cancel government contracts with his companies, calling him a “crazy man,” further escalating the conflict between the two former allies.

Musk, the world’s richest man, who was given extraordinary powers in Trump’s cabinet after his election, criticized the “huge and beautiful” spending bill Trump is trying to push through Congress.

The billionaire tech and media mogul suggested earlier Thursday that Trump wouldn’t have been elected last fall without him, calling him ungrateful.

This was a reference to Justice Department files relating to the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender for enticing minors to have sex with several celebrities.

Elon Musk provided no evidence to support his claims and did not explain how he accessed the files.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO was a former top Trump adviser and headed the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before his departure last week.

The controversial department was tasked with reducing the size of the government and resulted in the elimination of thousands of federal jobs.

Since his departure, Elon Musk has sharply criticized Trump’s tax and spending cuts, calling them a “disgusting, repugnant piece of work.”

In a post on Truth Social Thursday night, Trump said he had asked Elon Musk to leave the administration, calling him “under-resourced” and “crazy.”
