ICE Barbie’s Odds to Be Fired Reach All-Time High
Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Thom Tillis are piling on the pressure for the under-fire Kristi Noem.

Donald Trump sharply criticized Republican senators who called for the impeachment of Kristi Noem following her response to the death of Alex Peretti in Minneapolis.
Speaking on ABC News, the 79-year-old Trump dismissed the calls from Senators Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Thom Tillis (North Carolina) to remove the Homeland Security Secretary, calling them “losers.”
“They’re two bad senators,” Trump said. “One is no longer in office, and the other should be gone. As for Murkowski, she’s always against Republicans anyway. And Tillis decided to retire. So he lost his vote.”
Noem has faced widespread criticism for immediately labeling Peretti a “domestic terrorist” after his death, shot by federal immigration agents.
She also claimed the shooting was justified because the 37-year-old nurse intended to attack federal agents and was armed before being killed, although video footage contradicts these claims.
Witness video shows that Peretti never attempted to attack law enforcement and that the handgun he legally carried was disarmed before he was shot multiple times.

An initial report from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) internal investigation makes no mention of Peretti attacking agents or brandishing a weapon, further contradicting Noem’s account.
The report also concludes that a Border Patrol agent and a CBP agent fired at Peretti while attempting to subdue him, although it is unclear, according to NBC News, whether the bullets fired by both agents struck him.

Tillis, who is not seeking re-election, told reporters, “I think what she did in Minnesota warrants her dismissal. It’s unacceptable. It’s terrible. It reflects poorly on the president.”
Murkowski, a moderate Republican who often votes with Democrats in the Senate, also called for Noem’s resignation or removal.
“I think the president needs to look at the position of Secretary of Homeland Security,” Murkowski told CNN. “I would no longer support her, and I think it may be time for her to step down.”
Trump has repeatedly defended Noem in the face of questions about her future.
“I think she’s doing a great job,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. “The border is perfectly secure.”
Pressure is also mounting on White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller over his inflammatory and misleading remarks made shortly after Britty’s death. Miller, an architect of Trump’s hardline immigration policies, accused Britty of being a “potential murderer” who “tried to kill federal agents.”
In an attempt to save her job, Noem is reportedly blaming Miller for approving her controversial statements, including her claim that Britty wanted to “perpetrate a massacre” of immigration agents.
According to Axios, Noem told a source, “Everything I did, I did at the direction of the president and Stephen.”
The Trump administration’s attempt to smear the memory of a victim killed by federal agents in Minneapolis is reminiscent of the backlash surrounding the death of Renee Goode, who was shot and killed on January 7. Noem was widely condemned for suggesting that the unarmed 37-year-old mother of three was committing an “act of domestic terrorism” before being killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in her car.
Video footage shows Goode attempting to escape from ICE agents who were surrounding his vehicle before Ross shot him at close range.
