Hillary Trolls Trump’s ‘Low-Energy’ Parade With Protest Pics
The “No Kings” protests took focus off of Trump’s parade and seemingly took his crowd too.
Hillary Clinton mocked the low turnout for President Donald Trump’s “Dear Leader” parade, calling it mediocre compared to the crowds that filled the streets for the “No Kings” protests that same day.
On Sunday, Clinton posted photos on Instagram of the small crowd gathered for Trump’s lavish $45 million birthday parade, which also marked the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military. She contrasted these images with those of the “No Kings” protests that have spread across the country, in every state.
“Compare and contrast the scenes from yesterday in America. On one side, Trump’s inglorious “Dear Leader” parade (which cost you $45 million),” Clinton wrote.
“On the other hand, millions of people across the country gathered peacefully to say, ‘Here, we have no kings.”
According to her website, Saturday’s “No Kings” protests were “an act of rejection of tyranny,” the same day Trump staged his “military spectacle designed to demonstrate his strength.” Clinton also tweeted about last Thursday’s “No Kings” protest, calling on citizens to “make their voices heard.”
She wrote: “The right to peaceful protest is a fundamental right. It is enshrined in the Constitution. No president can revoke it, because in the United States of America, we have no kings.”
According to Forbes, approximately 2,000 protests took place across the United States, and “No Kings” organizers said millions of people participated in hundreds of events.
The Trump administration has been heavily criticized for its violent response to protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in recent weeks.
Trump’s decision to deploy 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines to quell anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protests in Los Angeles, without consulting California Governor Gavin Newsom or informing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, sparked national outrage.
But Trump, for his part, praised his motorcade, writing on Truth Social: “What a beautiful parade! Thank you to the military!”
Rain was feared for Trump’s motorcade, with forecasters predicting thunderstorms later in the day.
However, before the parade began, he stated: “Our great military parade is happening rain or shine. Remember, a rainy day is lucky.” See you in Washington, D.C.”
The parade started earlier than planned to beat the bad weather, and the stands along the route were nearly empty, according to social media posts.
One user wrote: “Trump’s ‘Look at Me’ parade was a failure. Another huge waste of taxpayer money.”
Besides the low turnout, Trump also missed some members of his inner circle, including his daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, as well as his son, Barron Trump.
First Lady Melania Trump also appeared to fall asleep during the festivities, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio was spotted yawning at one point during the lavish parade.
One X user noted: “Melania and Rubio are doing everything they can not to fall asleep 😂😂😂.”
