MAGA Sen. Mocked for Absurdly Calling Dem Assassin ‘Marxist’
Senator Mike Lee joined Elon Musk in portraying the suspect in attacks on Minnesota lawmakers as a leftist.

Republican Senator Mike Lee was ridiculed for calling the suspect in the deadly Minnesota shooting a “Marxist.”
The Utah senator commented on a photo of the alleged shooter, Vance Boulter, wearing a latex mask, saying, “This is what happens… when Marxists don’t get their way.”
The Utah senator also shared another post by Boulter with the caption, “Nightmare on Waltz Street.”
Other figures in the Make America Great Again movement, including Elon Musk, have also portrayed Boulter as a violent leftist.
Boult allegedly killed Democratic Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, and shot dead State Senator John Huffman and his wife on Saturday. Police later discovered a hit list that included dozens of Democrats and abortion providers. Boulter remains at large.
Lee was heavily criticized on X for sharing these posts, with many commenters pointing out that the evidence contradicted his claims.

Democratic activist Nina Turner responded on X: “Exploiting this tragedy to advance your political agenda is shameful. People are dead.”
Political scientist Norman Ornstein wrote on X: “Even for Mike Lee, this is absolutely disgusting. Impeccable misinformation.”
Conservative journalist Brad Polumbo wrote on X: “What the hell is Mike Lee doing? Has he completely lost his mind?”
“It’s Father’s Day, and you spend your time tweeting false information about a tragedy to cover up for a far-right terrorist,” the Democratic Party account wrote on X. “Pathetic.”
Lee’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bolter’s roommate, David Carlson, told reporters Saturday that the suspected shooter was a staunch Trump supporter.
Bolter and his wife, taken into custody Saturday for questioning, were also Republicans when they lived in Oklahoma in the early 2000s, according to public records. However, Minnesota does not require voters to choose a party when registering to vote.
Lee appeared unperturbed by the attacks, but instead engaged with those who supported his unfounded claims. He eventually posted a Father’s Day message more than two hours after his Marxism posts.
