‘Betrayed’: Trump ‘Absolutely Hammered’ by His Supporters on Truth Social After Telling Them to ‘Move On’ from Epstein

Donald Trump’s base is furious over the Jeffrey Epstein controversy— and they’re not holding back.

The president is facing a wave of backlash from his most loyal supporters after after telling them on a Truth Social Post, urging them “not to waste their time and energy on Jeffrey Epstein.” The statement sparked a political backlash in conservative media, podcasts, and social media, primarily from MAGA supporters.

“Trump is under fire from his own supporters on his own site,” wrote attorney George Conway on X. “Tens of thousands of responses attacking Trump. This is worth thinking about.”

Trump’s message wasn’t subtle. He told his followers it was time to move on from the Epstein case, adding that Epstein was “someone nobody cares about.” But to many in the MAGA world, it felt like a cover-up, or worse, a betrayal.

Everything suddenly exploded.

Far-right commentator Benny Johnson summed it up neatly: “This is how bad things are getting. The situation has reached a point of no return with President Trump’s choice in the feud between Dan Bongino and Pam Bondi.”

Bonny Johnson, now under fire for not releasing Epstein-related documents, received a public defense from Trump. He mentioned her and Kash Patel in his post, but omitted Bongino—a decision some consider highly significant.

The reactions were fierce.

Elon Musk tweeted: “Release the files as promised. The Epstein case is a major event.”

Nick Fuentes, a far-right figure and longtime Trump supporter, tweeted: “So Trump is now claiming the Epstein files are a Democrat hoax? LOL. MGA is over. Enough!” »

Another influencer, Evan Kilgore, wrote, “I feel betrayed. Who else?” He then added, “Rest in peace, Donald Trump’s legacy.”

Some Trump supporters even went so far as to burn MAGA hats in protest.

The timing was particularly bad. Just days before Trump’s post, the Justice Department and the FBI announced that Epstein’s “client list” did not exist and that his death was officially ruled a suicide, not a cover-up.

This didn’t sit well with Trump’s base, many of whom believed the story was more complex and expected Trump to fight harder for the truth.

Fox News and the Turning Point Backlash

Even young conservatives at the Turning Point student action summit didn’t buy into Trump’s message.

“I disagree with the president,” declared several Fox News participants.

“I think there are many instances where the president should just shut up,” added another.

Celebrity Trump supporters joined the debate. Host Andrew Schultz criticized the Trump administration, while Roseanne Barr tweeted directly at Trump. Trump: “Read the room.”

Megyn Kelly criticized Pam Bondi and, indirectly, Trump for defending her. “She was repeatedly misled about Epstein. Then she didn’t dare explain herself. Suddenly, she’s ashamed to be on camera and isn’t allowed to answer questions from the public. Good luck!”

Even Trump’s allies turned cold.

Steve Bannon, Trump’s former strategist, called on Trump to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Epstein files. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said the FBI and the Justice Department “still need more clarity.”

“This is the first time I can recall Trump ignoring his base and not doing what they explicitly asked him to do,” Alyssa Farah Griffin, Trump’s former communications director, said on CNN.

She added, “If Donald Trump wants to release all the information the government has on Jeffrey Epstein, he can release it—he can order the attorney general to release it.” So I think the fact that he hasn’t released it raises a lot of questions.

Trump’s post on Truth Social not only gained traction, but also created a rift within the MAGA movement. His comments left many of his loyal supporters feeling “betrayed.”
