Epstein Survivors Will Flood Capitol to Force Files Release
They will appear alongside the congresspeople supporting the release, including Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking crimes will return to the Capitol for another press conference demanding that Congress vote to release Epstein’s files.
On Wednesday, October 8, survivors will join Republican Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna, Democrats, to support the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the few Republicans to support the bill, will also be present.
Epstein survivors held their last press conference with members of Congress on September 3. During that conference, Trump ordered a fighter jet flyover and scrambled their words.
At that press conference, survivor Chauntae Davis claimed that Donald Trump, 79, was so close to Epstein that the late sex offender kept a photo of Trump on his desk.
She said, “Jeffrey and Ghislaine always boasted about their famous and influential friends, and their greatest pride, of all time, was their close friendship with Donald Trump.”
A few days after that first press conference, the Wall Street Journal published Trump’s now-famous birthday card to Epstein, which featured a drawing of a naked woman.
Trump called the Epstein case a “hoax” as pressure mounted to release the files, although he indicated during his 2024 campaign that he would be open to it. Jenna Lisa Jones, an Epstein survivor, said she voted for Trump because she believed he would seek justice for Epstein’s victims.
A petition aimed at forcing a vote on the bill is stalled in Congress. House Speaker Mike Johnson has postponed the swearing-in of newly elected Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva, which would constitute the final signature needed to bring the bill to a vote.
On Thursday, Johnson said he would swear in Grijalva “next week.” On Friday, he announced he would send members of Congress home that week for a “regional work period.” It is currently unclear whether Johnson plans to follow through on his promise to swear in Grevallia next week, and his office did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
It is clear that Reps. Khanna, Massie, and Green will not be returning home during this “regional work period.”
