Trump Triggers 25th Amendment Calls After 33 Posts in 45 Minutes
The president shared a post calling NATO a “real threat” in the same spree in which he claimed he has “done more for NATO” than anyone in history.

President Donald Trump has reignited calls to invoke the 25th Amendment of the Constitution after a series of bizarre and contradictory posts on Tuesday morning.
Trump, 79, posted 33 tweets in 45 minutes on Tuesday, claiming he had “done more for NATO than anyone” and sharing conspiracy theories about Dominion voting machines, nonexistent election fraud, and an excerpt from his 2017 inaugural address, among other things.
This flurry of tweets, which comes as he threatens to destroy relations with long-standing European allies by demanding that the United States acquire Greenland from Denmark, has renewed calls for his removal from office.

“Are we witnessing a genuine mental health crisis with Trump?” former Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger wrote on BlueSky News shortly after Trump’s tweet storm subsided. “Seriously.”
Among the posts was a screenshot of a message from a user named “Bobby D” claiming that America’s enemies are neither China nor Russia.

The message argued that the real threat to America is “the enemy within,” NATO, and the United Nations – a claim that even Trump’s most ardent supporters haven’t made.
“So, when are we finally going to understand that the enemy is within?” the user asked. “China and Russia are just scarecrows, while the real threat is the United Nations, NATO, and this ‘religion’,” he wrote, referring to Islam. “I put ‘religion’ in quotes because it’s not a religion. It’s a [death] cult! Yes, I said it.”

This message went viral, providing Trump’s cabinet and Vice President JD Vance with the latest reason to declare to Congress that the president is mentally unfit to hold office. The Republican-controlled Congress could also appoint a body to activate this amendment, but such an action is unprecedented.
Republicans have given no indication of potentially invoking the 25th Amendment, but this hasn’t stopped Trump’s critics from demanding action. Democratic lawmakers, including Senator Ed Markey of California, have insisted on the need to use this amendment.
The 25th Amendment would allow for the president’s removal, but it requires Congress to ratify any resolution to remove Trump within 21 days of notification from the vice president and cabinet.

One Blue Sky user, responding to a post by Bobby D, wrote: “Trump is insane and should be removed under the 25th Amendment before he destroys the United States.”
Another wrote: “When will Congress step in and invoke the 25th Amendment? Or at least begin serious impeachment proceedings? This is urgent.”
A third urged Congress to act while Trump was in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. He is scheduled to leave Washington on Tuesday.
An influential left-leaning account posted: “Congress, while your favorite dictator is in Europe, now is the perfect time to invoke the 25th Amendment and/or impeach him. You will be held accountable for all the damage he has caused, is causing, and will cause because of your inaction. Your silence is complicity. You work for us, not the mad king. Do your duty.”
Timothy Noah, a columnist for the progressive website The New Republic, criticized members of the Trump administration who are attempting to normalize his recent actions, such as his threats against the Norwegian government, a key U.S. ally, because the independent Nobel Committee did not award him the Nobel Peace Prize.
Noah wrote: “The worst thing members of the administration can do right now is pretend that a president who threatens war against NATO because he (allegedly) didn’t receive the Nobel Peace Prize is not mentally unstable and does not warrant the immediate invocation of the 25th Amendment.”
