Trump Rebel Thomas Massie Signals He’s Not Done Fighting
His latest move suggests he’ll continue to battle the president.

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, a vocal critic of President Trump, has announced his candidacy for reelection in 2028, following his primary defeat to the Trump-backed candidate.
Massie, 55, lost the Republican primary for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District last week to Ed Galren, a former Navy SEAL strongly endorsed by Trump.
Massie announced Monday that he had filed his candidacy for 2028.

“This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office,” Massie posted on X, along with a copy of the filing.
Massie said he hadn’t yet “made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run.”

Massie is among the many Republican members of Congress whom Trump is seeking to impeach. Those whom Trump, 79, has labeled disloyal or accused of not voting according to his wishes have seen their seats threatened by rivals backed by the “Make America Great Again” movement.
Massey has opposed the president by sponsoring legislation to release Epstein’s files, challenging the spending bill, and criticizing the Iran nuclear deal and other aspects of Trump’s foreign policy.
Since his primary defeat, Massey has relentlessly provoked the president. On Sunday, he said he was convinced that First Lady Melania Trump knew more names would be revealed in Epstein’s files and that the child sex trafficker, a friend of the president, had many accomplices.
“Even Melania doesn’t believe that. The first lady knows that Jeffrey Epstein didn’t act alone,” he said on Meet the Press.
Massey’s announcement of his 2028 presidential candidacy was met with enthusiasm on X.com, with many users commenting and encouraging him to run for president.
However, others, loyal to Trump, advised him to retire.
Trump himself remains furious with Massie and other Republicans he cannot control, even after their removal from office. On Monday morning, Trump posted a bizarre message on Truth Social for Memorial Day, calling Massie a “total creep.”
He also attacked two other people.
“Weak and ineffective people like failed Senator Thom Tillis (Soon out of office!), Bill Cassidy, who just suffered a massive Primary loss, really bad Congressman Thomas Massie, a major sleazebag who lost in a landslide to a great American Patriot (Endorsed by “TRUMP”) after showing tremendous disloyalty to his Party (and Country!)”

So far, Trump’s candidates have won these primaries. However, his declining popularity in the polls threatens to damage his appeal to non-Republican voters.
