Podcast Bro Theo Von Questions How ‘America First’ Trump Really Is Amid Potential Iran War
The podcaster who helped lift Trump's voice to younger male voters during the 2024 presidential election told Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), “It feels like we are just working for Israel.”
On Friday, popular podcaster Theo Vaughn joined Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna (R-Calif.) to take a strong stance against possible US intervention in the Israeli-Iranian conflict.
Khanna appeared on his podcast “Last Weekend” to discuss a variety of topics, from foreign affairs to artificial intelligence. At one point, Khanna promoted the War Powers Resolution, a bipartisan bill he introduced with Republican Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) that aims to prevent the US military from engaging in unauthorized hostilities in Iran.
During his exchange with Vaughn, Khanna cited several members of the MAGA base who have vocally expressed their opposition to a US war against Iran, including Tucker Carlson and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia). Vaughn agreed with the conservatives: “It’s a terrible idea.”
Yes, people say, “Well, you don’t know much about the Middle East.” That’s normal. I don’t want my friends, my acquaintances, to be drafted. “I don’t want the children of my friends who were drafted to die,” Vaughn said. “I don’t understand how that can even be considered.”
Vaughn, who hosted Donald Trump on his podcast last year, helped the president reach young male voters in the 2024 presidential election.
Khanna commented on the impact of Vaughn’s interview with Trump, saying the podcaster made the president “the most human I’ve ever seen in my life,” after the two spoke openly about the president’s brother and his alcohol and cocaine addiction.
Last month, Vaughn performed a controversial comedy show at a military base in Qatar before Trump addressed American and Qatari troops. The podcaster has apparently grown close to the Trump family, even going so far as to have dinner with Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, after attending his stand-up comedy show in Miami. But now, Vaughn is questioning Trump’s “America First” campaign statements. When Khanna asked him if he knew anyone who supported the idea of a US war against Iran, Vaughn replied, “Nobody.”
Vaughn added, “We feel like we’re only working for Israel,” Khanna said, and he believes many Americans are “disillusioned” with American leaders.
Vaughn added, “I was under the impression that America First was supposed to be the priority, and to focus on, ‘What can we do to bring America back?’ Right?” To strengthen our purpose as Americans, to revitalize our hearts… to make us feel something here, to make us want to be Americans.”
