“Couch F***er!”: JD Vance Booed While Hyping Up Trump’s D.C. Takeover

JD Vance’s and Pete Hegseth’s answers to press questions were nearly drowned out by a jeering crowd.

Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth must have heard how much Washington hates them when they attempted to pose for a photo op with federal troops for Donald Trump on Wednesday.

As Vance, Hegseth, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller strolled through Washington’s Union Station, surrounded by a horde of photographers and security personnel, it was immediately clear they were not welcome.

“Look, he’s going after the couch!” one person shouted in a video shared by HuffPost reporter Arthur Delaney on X. “Are you going to sleep with the couch, buddy?”

The shouts intensified, and the boos from onlookers became harder to discern. But one sentiment was clear: “Fuck you, J.D. Vance!” the first speaker yelled.

The Trump team arrived to deliver hamburgers (purchased at the Shake Shack at Union Station) to the National Guardsmen milling around the station, as their photographers watched. Six Republican-majority states mobilized nearly 1,200 additional troops to join the 800 already deployed on the streets of Washington, D.C., tasked with fighting crime, which was already on the decline.

The group took questions from the press, shouting their responses over the chants of opponents. Miller tried to describe the protesters as “old white hippies.”

Vance had trouble hearing one question over the crowd at the station. The question was: “Polls show that a majority of Washington, D.C., residents do not support the National Guard here. What is your message to the majority of Washington, D.C. residents?”

Vance responded to the shouts: “I doubt very much that a majority of Washington, D.C., residents don’t want their city to have better public safety and more reasonable security standards in Washington. I don’t know which poll you’re referring to, maybe the same one that predicted a 10-point victory for Kamala Harris in the popular vote.”

Vance then ended the questioning, visibly irritated.

In fact, a recent poll by The Washington Post and the Schar School found that 65% of Washington, D.C., residents do not believe that Trump’s deployment of the National Guard will improve the city’s security.

As Vance saluted the National Guard soldiers, chants of “Liberate Washington, D.C.” could be heard in the background.

Another video posted by HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic showed the three men leaving the station amidst thunderous boos from the high ceilings and a burst of contempt from the auditorium.

“Boo! Get out of here!” shouted a passerby.

Apparently, the people of Washington, D.C., have spoken and want the Trump supporters to leave.
